Why is jury selection so important?
Because we all take our own biases into situations. Many times, people just go with their gut reaction when making decisions without looking at the evidence. So, if a defense lawyer doesn’t choose a good jury, their client could face the consequences.

So can the jury ask the judge if the defendant can give his sise of the story if he has not invoked the 5th?
Trial by jury is supposed to of your piers. People that know you, your circumstances. Because everything comes down to intent. Did you intend to commit a crime? Evidence can be interpreted many ways, but does it prove intent. Woefullness. People that know you would be a better judge of that than a stranger. Strangers might take one look at you and decide your fate regardless of the evidence or intent
Most everyone does not know there is such a thing as jury nullification. Two big cases are Oj trial and Fugitive Slave laws. Can rule innocent even with overwhelming evidence
too many jurors still think that cops wouldn't arrest an innocent person and the whole innocent until proven guilty requirement of the 5th Amendment is largely a myth. Also too many people think they can tell when people are lying but they can't.
Petty juries, consisting usually of twelve men, attend courts to try matters of fact in civil causes, and to decide both the law and the fact in criminal prosecutions. The decision of a petty jury is called a verdict. (Webster, American Dictionary of the English Language (1828) Vol. 2, p. 2.)
Trump is
GUILTY! GUILTY ! GUILTY!!!
I don’t believe most juries go with their “gut instinct”
I was called for jury duty once and got dismissed by the prosecution when they realized that I was too smart.
Jury's are they way our government looses any liability for their actions. "We didn't wrongfully convict you, a jury did."
I would never be a juror. I don't trust cops or judges.
We have to get rid of jury’s.
The media in particular are far more interested in attractive people imprisoned overseas than say an Asian who is on death row
I'll be happy when that changes
All of our citizens are important and attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder
