SC Judge's argument that it is 'selective confidentiality' as SBI would know the amount and identity of the donors thereby the playing field is not level appears as a flawed argument. There are two competing thought processes and we have to choose the less evil one. First one is "Cash donation that appears 100% confidential but creates a parralel black economy in the country" . Second one is "Electoral bond where there is a possibility that the ruling government could know the data from SBI, thereafter retribute" . Let us accept this fact that a ruling party will ALWAYS get more donation than others, with cash or with electoral bond.
The first choice of cash donation creates parallel black economy and will GUARANTEE that India will always stay a third world country with low per capita income. It is naive for the SC judges to assume that cash brings confidentiality as even with the cash donations, the governments can figure out exactly who got what from whom. It is easy.
The second choice of Electoral Bond allows 99% confidentiality and also allows room for improvement for a level-playing field. We cannot allow a black economy. There is this assumption that the government's intention will be malafide, read the SBI data and retribute … the natural assumption should be that the government will act in a good faith with no malafide intention…. till there is an evidence to the contrary. There is another assumption that the donors will NOT donate in cash in the Electoral Bond system, which is wrong. Some would still donate in cash .. that some parties would not declare and use that money for vacations to Italy.
Abhi bjp central govt me hai to obviously unko huge donations milenge hi. If the government gets changed in the next term and if congress comes to power this scenario is going to be the same.
