I'm still very curious about how live rounds can look close enough to blanks to fool anyone, but it sure sounds like the prosecution's case that Gutierrez-Reed brought the ammunition herself fell apart spectacularly, and Baldwin's charges relied on the argument that she was so incompetent he should have known not to trust her. That said, his hammer fall claim is BS.

20. Along with all the other points that were made, don't forget that the pistol was sent to the FBI to be checked to see if it was able to fire without pulling the trigger. They said the test showed it could not but when the pistol was returned it was broken and completely unusable.
