In this video, Jay P. Mykytiuk of Scrofano Law PC discusses the ins and outs of reckless driving charges in Virginia. There are multiple ways to get stopped and arrested for reckless driving in Virginia and both ways have to do with speeding. Many people may just get a fine and pay it without realizing its a criminal conviction on their record that can come back to haunt them down the road. In Virginia, reckless driving is considered a class 1 misdemeanor.

Its possible in some counties they may never put handcuffs on you and just serve you a citation. However, it still goes on your criminal record despite the fact you were never put in handcuffs. Criminal convictions can cause problems with security clearances and background checks. Some reckless offenses are treated more harshly and judges in the Commonwealth are known to give jail time for exceeding high speeds.

In Northern Virginia in particular reckless driving can be the type of charge that leads to some jail time. Accordingly, its important to contact a qualified Virginia criminal defense lawyer to represent you. It may be possible with an attorney to avoid a conviction. 1. Just got a ticket in Virginia Beach for doing 81 in a 55 mph where the rate of traffic is 60. Planning to enroll in DMV’s 8 hour class and a RADEP class and want to know if taking them will negatively affect my case.

  2. Careful driving in Virgina seriously, got a reckless driving citation from a crooked state trooper who said i was going 86 yet my cruise was set to 80 and i slowed down slightly as i passed him. I begged him to not write me up for reckless but all he kept saying is "I dont write tickets under 85." Excited to see him on court come December.

  3. Virginia have some of the harshest recklessness driving laws and some of the most reckless drivers out there

  4. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14❤️ Please don’t take this lightly guys repent today, no day is promised so do it now, here’s the sign you’ve been looking for. God loves you and so do I❤️❤️
