When Jarrett Adams was 17 years old, he was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Fueled by his desire for justice, Adams began studying the law while incarcerated. After reading countless books, journals and newspapers, he reached out to the Wisconsin Innocence Project, an organization dedicated to reforming the criminal justice system. With their help, Adams was exonerated and his conviction was overturned, but not after having already served 8 years in prison. Today, he’s a defense attorney, fighting to help others facing the same injustices.

  1. It wasnt because of race man… it was because you were POOR. So much gets attributed to race in this country which is actually a symptom of CLASS STRUGGLE. If we keep blaming things on racism, when racism isn't truly the cause, we solve NOTHING… We have to start asking the difficult and often painful questions about why certain demographics fail to achieve financial independence or financial maturity and aim our efforts THERE where we can actually do something and solve real problems. Then a 17 year old kid won't have to be stuck with a 1st year public defender who has 200 other cases and really doesn't give a shit about you.

  2. I was in Foster Care and it was horrible. But that experience drew me to the law. I’m currently at a prestigious university completing my bachelors degree. I will be applying to law school next fall.

  3. What if I have a DUI/ possession of controlled substance on my record? What about ongoing treatment for adhd, panic attacks, substance abuse and depression? Can I never be a lawyer?

  4. Thank God this didn't happen to him in the 20's, 30's etc. because had that been the case then he'd have certainly been executed or lynched without being given a fair trial, his greatness would've never been realized

  5. Every Good Intention

"How is this possible that a decent innocent person
from the beginning had 'every good intention' to do
what is legally right and eventually sadly too end up in
    a blight permanent detention?"

    "How could this happen??
    A decent gent on the outside;
Only too end up immorally bent inside from
the permanent detention! Known as a poison prison."

'To conclude: Every hidden cause has a outcome driven effect.'

  6. The problem aren't about race it about power the power to influence other racist wouldn't exited if those people didn't say so the basic idea of some stupid people think they them self were better than other is like comparing domestic cat with cats it all cats unless people say they are different

  7. Him when he sues the judge and the scene in the court:

Him: so you arrest me for my race and take away my youth

The judge who’s defending: it was a mis conducted trial

Him: so you have a misconducted trial on a kid who supposedly had sexual assault and imprison him for a long time?

    The defender: uuuuuhhhhhhhhhh

  8. "It was necessary to encourage the greatness out of me…" most profound and spiritualy mature wisdom he could have gained…and he did gain it…and so much more. Beautiful!
