911 can actually be called on some phones without actually physically dialing 911, it was a feature to notify you needed help in the case of a medical emergency where you couldn't actually dial. Some devices will even sense an impact and send a notification out to someone for you..
It'd be interesting to hear the call to 911. If it's obvious that he's playing a video game, how long the call was?
The 911 operator could have gotten this child killed, depending how gun happy the officers sent their could have been. Luckily the mother got some sane officers who aren't scared and remained calm enough to be able to assess the situation.
