The former sheriff’s deputy charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Sonya Massey, a 36-year-old Black woman killed inside her Illinois home, had been employed by a half-dozen police agencies since 2020, according to state law enforcement records. Sean Grayson’s career included short stints as a part-time officer at three small police departments and a full-time job at a fourth department as well as working full time at two sheriff’s offices, all in central Illinois. Grayson, 30, who is white, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and official misconduct charges in the July 6 killing. He was fired last week by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.

To the female news reporter on this tragic story: I feel it is very disrespectful for you to refer to the victum by her FIRST name: ' Why Sonya called 911 in the first place'. Unless you are a very close personal friend or family member of hers you should respectfully address her as Ms Massey or Sonya Massey but never "Sonya'. To me this just adds insult to injury.
Historically black people have been addressed by whites by their first name because little respect was given to them so please refrain from this perhaps subconcious blunder in the future.

I think Both officers should be charged, for not Rendering Aid while she was still alive. And for entering her home for no Reason. What did her Drivers License have to do with anything? What did the vehicle in HER DRIVEWAY HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING??? Both officers are Guilty Because the partner tried to turn off his Body cam.

I don't think Grayson even cares about serving life in prison. According to videos he has been diagnosed with colon cancer. I have a friend who passed away from colon cancer 2 years ago. Grayson's days are already limited.

I think district attorney and detective should press charge against of second deputy for warrant first degree of murder and melfasnice and false report them information. I believe second deputy was not whole truth nothing storyline. Detective need wake up get second deputy be whole truth or be arrest him. They already arrested ex deputy Grayson in jail but need second deputy be warrant arrest soon. Hope district attorney and detective need wake up.
