On 1 April, a new hate crime law will be introduced in Scotland. The rules will apply in people’s private homes and online.

The legislation criminalises threatening or abusive behaviour based on characteristics including age, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.

There are fears innocent people could end up on police databases with controversial new hate crime laws in Scotland being weaponised to “settle scores”.

  1. Is this an early april fools joke ??????? what does the sex shop and fish factory have to do with new laws im genuinely perplexed

  2. if this hate speech stems from other reason. as humza said too many whites in scotland. white can use this to their advantage.

  3. All this woke BS plays right into the hands of the far left who hate the fact that there are ideas contrary to theirs.

  4. This law is already in place. All we are seeing is a bolt on for age, gender, disability etc. All good. Still does not hide the fact that SNP are no longer any good for Scotland.

  5. The effect of this mad draconian hate law is to turn an already divided Scotland into a nation of Informants,
North Korea will look on with amazement at how an elected party has managed to subjugate a democratic country, to not only turn in on itself, but at the same time eradicate free speech.
The truly worrying fact is that this is just the start. The lunatics have truly taken over the asylum

  6. I’d like to report a hate crime against Humza Yousef, for the crime of hate against the Scottish nation and it’s people, to the level of treason!

  7. This is a clear and decisive leap towards totalitarianism. This is naked policing of thought. It is impossible for "hate crime" and "freedom of expression" to exist at the same time – they are fatally contradictory notions. Humza Yousaf knows it and is lying through his teeth.

  8. A human skeleton can and will always be the deciding factor in determining the gender of the person! 😢 Sorry lgbtq but it one or the other at birth. 💯

  9. Absolute nonsense… from the history of the Scottish being leaders in the enlightenment to this … for the first time in my life I’m ashamed to be Scottish

  10. SNP leader Humza Useless and Scottish Labour leader Anas both appear in videos online where they fume about Scotland having too many whites in positions of power. Surely Humza and Anas should be reported for 'hate speech'.

  11. This is Orwellian and wrong. SNP and Labour pushed this bill through even though most Scots are against it. SNP and Labour have no respect for freedom of expression.

  12. It is basically the 1986 uk race relations act extended to varying degrees to disability, age etc

  13. It looks like something out of George Orwell's 1984. So we now know what an independent Scotland would look like, a totalitarian state. Who in their right mind would vote for the SNP or independence after this?

  14. That's exactly what it'll be used for. Absolute disgrace of a law breaks the human rights of the Scottish people. How it even got assent is beyond me. Repeal it. Hoping to silence opinions on the SNP?
