Richard Kuklinski, also known as the “Iceman,” was an American contract killer and serial murderer. Born on April 11, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Kuklinski gained notoriety for his involvement in organized crime and his reputation as a cold-blooded and ruthless killer.
Kuklinski claimed to have committed numerous murders from the 1940s through the 1980s, with estimates ranging from dozens to over 100 victims. He employed various methods to carry out his crimes, including guns, poison, and strangulation. Kuklinski earned his nickname “Iceman” because he sometimes froze his victims’ bodies to delay the time of death and confuse investigators.
In 1986, Kuklinski was arrested for multiple charges, including murder, after an extensive investigation by law enforcement. He was convicted of five murders but later confessed to many more during interviews with author Philip Carlo. Kuklinski was sentenced to life in prison and died in March 2006 at the age of 70 while serving his sentence at the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.
