2. I think these verbs come from the latin, because are quite the same in current italian (distrarsi, contenere, persistere). Somewhere i read that english words have 50% latin origin and 50% not and the speech is considered more researched and elegant if you use more words from latin instead of their not latin synonimous and for us italians is easier. What do you think about?
