So here's what they should have done. They should have called campus security, the building is owned by the University, so they can permit the cops to search without a warrant. If they do find the alcohol in the room and this kid was in it, he's guilty of possession even if it didn't belong to him. The security officer can also demand to see the student ID as that is part of the agreement the student signed when they were accepted at the University. This kid had zero legs to stand on if they had done things properly.
What happened? Did he sue? Did he win?

It’s only a law suit if it was a civil rights violation. We don’t know enough about why they are there to begin with. Quite often, people pop around on Google and interpret the law their own way and think it’s legitimate when they really don’t understand squat. I find it amusing.
