The defendant argues the plaintiff guaranteed he would win the case. She appealed the decision and won, so she doesn’t think she owes because she has already paid him a ton of money in fees.

So let me get this straight. The plaintiff retained a lawyer to get back money that she wasn't paid for a vehicle that she was supposedly trading childcare services for, and then she's going to her self not finish paying for services…..

Hard to really know what happened in this case. Too many possibilities on both sides.
But the plaintiff should have let the $600 go. He got $7,700 for a $5000 case and she's known him since she was in First grade!?
She learned a good lesson about people. It doesn't matter how long you've known someone, it depends on real character.
Most of the people from my long ago past who have looked me up turned out to be nothing much good.

She doesn't make very good decisions. Her convoluted contract with somebody that she just decided to let go for 4 years. At that point just let it go If you didn't care about it for 4 years. Then you spend eight grand over the remaining balance of $2,500. The wheels are turning but there's no driver

most lawyers are complete crap. they over charge. show up late to hearings. and rarely clear on the facts or documentation. they get paid whether they win or lose. rule 1, stay out of court.

I just had a case where the attorney got $7500 from me and i had to do all the work, collect all the evidence, find a fax machine to fax documents, and when we went to court, they only appeared on the phone, not in person, they only answered yes three times and did not fight for me. I would have been better off myself and saved $7500. I think the judge had empathy for the defendant. But the law is the law.
