The trial of Karen Read in Massachusetts has been one of the most divisive in recent memory. Read claims she’s being framed for the murder of her boyfriend, Boston Police officer John O’Keefe. But the Commonwealth says Read was driving drunk when she backed her SUV into O’Keefe during a blizzard in January 2022. Law&Crime’s Angenette Levy details some of the things that have divided people most during the testimony of first responders in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

  1. What I think is absolutely redicilous is all the comments about yow innocent she os when nobody was there and not even a quarter of the evidence has been admitted! Bunch of people just believing what anyone else says and jumping right on that bandwagon.

  2. Karen knows she killed John…. No one else but Karen, I'm praying she's found guilty! All of these bullcrap lies her n her attorney has come up with is outrageous, and it sounds fake….. I'm hoping the juror sees past her lies…..

  3. This is really a bizarre case. So she dropped her off at the party, did he even make it into the house? Where's his other shoe? Was he wearing a jacket being in inclement weather? The witness from inside the house said they saw somebody out front, a vehicle going back and forth and they didn't bother to go outside and welcome him inside? Plus the fact that when they found the body, fire trucks, cops, ambulance etc…that nobody came outside to see what happened and identify their fellow officer? What about the dog and those scratches on his arm? Why didn't the officers interview the homeowner? Just strange.

  4. This girl is innocent. NOT GUILTY. How do you prove a person is guilty by saying they were frantic when others (who were NOT romantically involved with the victim) were not? That is an asinine theory..

  5. She’ll be found not guilty and John’s killers will go free until someone talks Thanks Canton

  6. They probably had to rehome the poor dog because of all the free karen nutters who have even attacked family members

  7. Where's the house owners dog? Is there no surveillance on that street at all? What about Karen's phone messages? Who's this mysterious witness with Karen that night and what does she have to say?

  8. Her car shows that she went 24 mph in reverse as she was dropping him off. They always try to discredit the police when they have no other option

  9. This report/ host fake news lady should stop swaying the facts, she has no accurate facts or knowledge of them… its co fusing the public

  10. Dog bites, never seen a bite like that. Looks like what happens when you defensively put your arms out & you’re injured from the broken taillight, maybe. They said he had his shirt on. He was knocked out of his shoes, like when you’re hit by a car.

  11. The computer data from the Lexus is going to prove Karen is Guilty. The tail light fragments on O’Keefe’s body are damning as well. She was enraged & drunk and floored it! Struck O’Keefe and took off. It’s very possible John was laying in the snow & the Alberts could of let the dog out and the dog could of bit him. That makes more sense than “I was framed”

  12. I don’t know much about this case. However, if I were in that circumstance I would feel like it was my fault because I dropped him off and didn’t stay with him. I know that isn’t rational but emotions aren’t always rational. I have a tendency to accept responsibility for things I have no control over. Therapy has helped a great deal. Nonetheless, it happens. I’m just throwing this out there for consideration. When anxiety increases, cognitive function decreases. It’s plausible in a sleep deprived state experiencing shock, and panic, one might question their own culpability. If she did it either knowingly or unknowingly, wouldn’t you think she would DENY it? This woman did everything in her power to try to save him. She wasn’t concerned about herself. She had the courage to even question her own actions. IMHO, her actions were not indicative of a guilty party.

  13. This case has definitely grabbed my attention. Will need to see all the evidence provided by both sides before forming an opinion. That being said, as many people have already alerted to, a number of things have understandably raised concerns regarding the investigation to this point. Best to leave it at that for now.

  14. I don’t think she did it. Her attorneys have provided a ton of reasonable doubt so far, IMO

  15. Karen Read clearly has been set up. Mistakes after another. Please Jury free her.

  16. Sounds like DUI/manslaughter and the cops were shady cause they either were drinking and driving or knew Karen was or both.

  17. Regardless of who was responsible for the death of John, the investigation was botched from the jump! If I were on that jury, I wouldn’t be able to convict her beyond reason! Something is off about the whole thing!

  18. If everyone in the house is innocent – why was the homeowner's sister googling "How long to take for a body to die in the cold"? Phone records show she googled this 4 hours before his body was discovered?

  19. The police have been accused by the defense of incompetence and a murder coverup. The DA has accused Karen of being drunk and striking her BF with her car-intentionally or unintentionally. All of this could be true. At this stage of the evidence, I’m not really swayed by either argument yet 🤷🏻‍♀️
