5. Trump's stance on military spending by European NATO countries could backfire. In principle, of course, he is right that it is not ok for countries to fail to meet the 2% target over long periods of time. But one should not forget:
   
   around 60% of European military spending ends up as orders for American arms companies (while the USA buys almost no European weapons systems). This volume of money corresponds to the size of about a third of US military spending. If the Europeans were to act like the US – namely not importing their weaponry but producing it at home, therefore also generating jobs and tax revenue at home in order to be able to spend more on the military – then that might mean bankruptcy for large parts of the US arms industry and would also be financially unpleasant for the USA as a state.

9. I wish I lived in New York and was called for jury duty. If I had a chance to stand in front of a judge and look Trump in the eye while telling the judge I could never be an impartial juror because I know the defendant is a disgusting liar and pathetic wannabe despot and am already convinced he is guilty of everything he's accused of and more, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do so.

10. I volunteered to take part in my university's mock jury that they hold to give law students simulated courtroom experience. There's a full courtroom and jury chamber and it's just like a real trial (but does not go on for weeks, volunteers aren't expected to miss work for a month to help the law school.) It was very interesting! I also went through a simulated vior dire (sp??) process. I think actually being called for jury duty would be fascinating, so OF COURSE I have never and probably will never be called to serve.

34. I’m so glad I’m not in an area that I could be called as a juror 😂 I wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face when asked those questions

35. Now I really wish I could remember all the questions I was asked when I served on a jury. Not that I would have wanted to analyze those questions at the time, but I'm curious to think about their import as it applied to that case. I didn't even realize it was standard questions as jurors were called into the courtroom individually so that we couldn't hear the questions beforehand or hear responses from fellow jurors.
