In cross-examination on Monday, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel questioned Trontavious “Tick” Stephens about ROC Crew’s evolution, and Thug’s formation of the YSL record label.
Stephens, who is 30 years old, took a plea deal in December 2022 in which he admitted to founding the Young Slime Life gang. The deal, which let him out of jail on eight years probation, requires his testimony in trial.
Steel’s narrative regarding Tick began to emerge in this line of questioning: He’s pushing the idea that Tick is impulsive and didn’t work as hard as Thug, and it was Tick who continued to embrace gang life long after Thug, legal name Jeffery Lamar Williams, had moved away from real gang banging to studio gangsterism.
