So… You let the cops in. How do you get them to leave after you have consented to have them inside?
Contrary to popular belief, you ARE allowed to revoke consent as you wish if the police haven’t found something that gives them probable cause or reasonable suspicion. For example, if they’re searching your dining room, and you decide you don’t want them to search the rest of your house because maybe they’re making a mess or they’re being hostile, you are allowed to revoke your consent.
I suggest saying this, “I am now revoking my consent to have you search my property. Please leave my home and stop searching immediately.” Be sure to record this on your phone or security camera so you have the time stamp of when you revoked your consent. They SHOULD stop at this point because they would be trespassing and violating your fourth amendment right, but if they don’t, make sure to call a lawyer.
