The person who called you out on the last one is incorrect. You were saying it properly, they were saying the Americanized version. I bet that same person would say it is a Cadillac converter when it is a catalytic converter.

Words written in "English" for foreign words still should be pronounced correctly. Like Gamjatang or PyeongChang (where 2018 Olumpics where held).
No, you actually say "Porsche" with eh as the end pronunciation. That's the German way 🙂
Porsche is pronounced differently as it is not an English word. The e at the end is pronounced short, like the e in the article "the" when saying "the car". ☺️

I’ve worked on something for Porsche professionally, so pronouncing it correctly comes from respecting the brand and the name. From observation, people tend to think, when corrected about something luxury and seemingly “elitist”, it’s “pretentious” because it makes them feel inferior in some way.

Pretentious is the perfect word for it. There are some words that are pronounced a particular way in the country I live in, and saying it the "correct" way is actually saying it in a way that's not correct _here_. And that's ok! But it does sound SO pretentious when people fully whip out an accent that's not theirs to shove in a pronunciation that's not theirs just so they can sound like they're in the know 🙄
I also just use the porsch and just think of it as slang. Just me even native speakers struggle with words just like most languages.
