19. Since when is it okay to use a schools policy as law? Seriously just get it that phones can be distracting, but if the teachers were more engaged with their students while teaching them they would more likely pay attention rather their phones. The only time I see getting punished for a phone is when it starts distracting other students from learning. But even then they shouldn’t be able to take your property from you, they can send you to the principal and give you a punishment like ISS or something of that sort like detention. There is ZERO reason to allow teachers to take a students phone imo. If there is a suspected crime then that’s what school officers are for or police can be called and they can confiscate the phones for reasonable suspicion of a crime. Teachers are not police nor are they your parents.
