When the government meant to create order fails, then it is up to the people (like the businesses leaving) to create order. How could there be shoplifting if there is no shop to lift from?

It is hard to judge the information you are giving us in the clips when we do not know when it is from. You put a clip in this one talking about low crime in Oakland, but when was that? If we cannot tell that, then a lot of context for the clips is just lost.

14. When, decades ago, I would have a court case in Oakland it was always a refreshing experience. Juries in Oakland were some of the only ones in the entire Bay Area who took a police officer's testimony essentially the same as any other witness. In consequence, the Da's office were reasonable to deal with but did not give away the store. I had been an intern to a former Alameda County Da and frankly, he was one of the most capable attorneys I ever encountered in during 21 years of criminal courtroom work in California. It is very sad to see that office and that system fail to this extent.
