I often get DMs asking “how can i find a passive business to invest in” or “what’s a good passive business to buy?” My answer is always the same. There is no such thing as a passive business. When you own a business you are always skating on thin ice. One moment you can be profitable with free time and the next you can be going out of business with the bank taking your house you worked so hard for with your 9-5 earnings. There are always risks with owning businesses and its highly competitive ESPECIALLY coin laundries and vending machines. All these ppl on IG talking about the largest wealth transfer from Boomers, owning passive biz etc, are all phonies working hard to take your hard earned money. Do you know most business owners that I met got sued at least once, and each lawsuit is about $100,000 (lawyer fees + settlement) if you’re LUCKY. You can be sued for anything these days: no breaks, workers comp, ADA, sexual harrassment. There’s billboards on the street that if you call they’ll give you a whole omakase menu of the things you can get your employer for.

Yes it looks easy for me, I only come in few times a month but it took me years of slaving away to get here. As a business owner you have to be the most knowledgeable about your business. You can’t keep your 9-5 and own a restaurant on the side, it won’t work unless you have a partner. Day one of owning a restaurant your prep wants double the pay or he walks out, all other employees hear of it and want the same, there goes your business. You also need to know how to cook otherwise the cooks will threaten to quit every time they see you. My cooks threatened to walk out on me more than I can count and my response was “go ahead I need those hours, more money for my honey.” That’s why most small businesses have family working so they don’t deal with flaky employees or lawsuits. Not to mention employees stealing inventory and money – always happens. Most importantly the business needs to be profitable which is a hard thing to pull off. All that to say I do think if you choose a business you’re “passionate” in and work like crazy, you can do very well.

  1. Every time someone has threatened legal action at my restaurant we always get radio silence. I've told people to their faces that they didn't get told no enough growing up.

  2. I like that this shows what being a restaurant owner can be like sometimes, because while the owner can and does help inside the restaurant, ultimatelly they just own the business, they dont need to be in it 24/7 unless thats the type of owner he is. Love the videos and keep it up!

  3. Dealing with the general public is a double edge sword. They can be satisfied and supportive. OR They can be like children, nit picky and petty. It's best to deal with them like someone else's unruly children. Pacify, and move on. Most importantly, AVOID AT ALL COST IN FUTURE.!!!

  4. Selling burgers but eating tacos. Nah that unacceptable, you gotta be a product of the product lol

  5. I can't believe he's reporting.. customer didn't like his bacon and eggs.. omg that's such a big deal
