17. This should have been quite simple. Everyone dashing about, he did it, she did it, protocols ..blah blah blah. It was one gun, in one hand and one finger that pulled the trigger. Of course safety protocols are important. It's obvious that there was a ton of negligence from all directions. The Pietta Model 1873 .45 colt long barrel is a single action revolver. This means that the trigger must be pulled back before the weapon can fire. Common sense here…When you have a weapon in your hand, it's YOUR responsibility. If I'm cleaning my gun and it fires and kills my neighbor….I'm going to jail. I have nothing against Mr. Baldwin but this man is 63, an actor and producer and has been on numerous movie sets with gun protocols. You never point any gun at a person..ever. You never pull a trigger without aiming. Of all the things that went wrong here the final responsibility fails on Mr. Baldwin. Oddly, he's behaving like he is somehow a victim in all this.
    Sadly, I expect this case to be resolved just like the Brandon Lee case. Charge everyone with negligence and fine them and throw a ton of cash until everything is okay again. Alec Baldwin will never face any charges due to celebrity immunity. The Hutchins family will never have any closure. This whole situation could have and should have been so easily avoided.

19. Well stated. No safety protocol was followed on the set or by any of the participants. You treat every firearm as if it’s loaded is the gun safety policy for the film industry. I am very careful with firearms. It’s the small things that matter with gun safety. If you are going to put a gun on a table make sure it is pointed away from any people, etc. If you have any uncertainty if the gun is loaded just double check it. Check the chamber twice before you clean a gun. It was just simple negligence on the set of rust.
