FST's are completely nonsensical and unscientific. Nobody should ever perform one.
Take an arrest and get a blood test to confirm you BAC. Better still have a designated driver who doesn't consume any adult beverages.

Cops are not doctors. They have no ability or authority to state whether you have a medical condition or not.
Horizontal gaze nystagmus test for intoxication is BS. something like 17% of the population have conditions which will cause the same nystagmus when exposed to a bright light after having been in the dark. Some have it all of the time. Medications can cause it. The test is bull.
I'M NEAR, SIDED, FAR SIDED, AND I HAVE ASTIGMATISM.
Coffee is a drug & given enough will cause that jerking, I know because it happened to me.

Astigmatism and contact lenses will make your eyes jerk like in the road side tests
Having unlicensed, untrained individuals doing medical neurological screening exam…do they count the number of beats to determine abnormal nystagmus….

They're trained to lie. He's lying like a cheap rug. Sad that he does it with no remorse.
Funny how cops never seem to remember evidence that doesn't support their narrative. Body Cams for every dept!

nystagmus – a neurological condition that literally causes the eyes to move back and forth involuntarilly.
strabism – an eye condition, which causes one or both of the eyes move to random side involuntarilly.
And many others…
You are not legally compelled to perform roadside tests. Simply take the Breathalyzer if required. The roadside tests are voluntary and simply a evidence gathering technique used to support probable cause and Breathalyzer results.
The roadside tests are done under less than ideal conditions with roaring traffic flying by, on uneven gravel strewn ground and sometimes adverse weather conditions.

I got a cool thing I can do. I guess you'd call it voluntary nystagmus. It's what they look for in drunk or impaired people. Only its involuntary and mine is not. I can shake my eyes whenever I want. I think it's fun to do but cops hate it.
Every single person on earth has end- stage nystagmus. Every single one.
This is why along with qualified immunity, roadside diagnostics needs to go! These cops don't have any medical experience or extensive medical training to assess anyone.
Lying cop, there are several reasons for involuntary jerking of the eyes including astigmatism and allergy itritation. He's not a physician and cannot diagnose drug or other physical attribute that causes eye jerking. Either this cop wasn't trained properly if at all or is just lying.
