CJI New Criminal Laws: Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud hailed the government’s new criminal legislation on Monday, describing them as a “significant step” towards modernising the legal system and aimed at replacing the rules from the British era. At the 20th DP Kohli Memorial Lecture, held in honour of the CBI’s founding director, Chandrachud gave the keynote address. He said that Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) offer a comprehensive approach that guarantees a smooth information flow.
