The man who was the mastermind behind his brother-in-law’s murder was sentenced to life without parole. Tuesday morning, Charlie Adelson briefly spoke in front of a Florida judge stating, “I just wanted to say that I maintain my innocence” before the judge sentenced him to spend the rest of his life behind bars. Adelson hired three people to kill Dan Markel. At the time of his murder, Markel was in a brutal divorce and custody battle with Adelson’s sister, Wendi Adelson.

“I maintain my innocence,” such a precise, formal and rehearsed way to say it. Not “I am innocent and I have been falsely convicted!”, or something similar that would convey the passionate state of a truly innocent man.
Also, innocent people’s families’ lawyers don’t tell them not to discuss the murder of a loved one with each other.

It’s absolutely astonishing that in no timeframe within this conspiracy, that Donna or Charlie or Wendi never looked at those babies & cared for their pain in growing up without their Dad.
Their biggest issue in their life was their son-in-law/bro in law/husband wanted to be in his own son’s lives. So many have the opposite issue, & here he was murdered for daring to fight for them.
I’ve been watching this case for 10 years and it’s the first that got me interested in true crime & law. Bless the state of FL and our justice system for all their efforts!
