5. I’m for justice reform but not in a way that these irresponsible politicians are doing. Letting violent criminals out is insane and dangerous especially for our communities. They don’t understand what constitutes as violent crimes. There are all types of violent crimes that may not result in death or injury but could possibly happen. If you break into someone’s home, If you sell fentanyl to someone, If you drink and drive are all acts of potential violence. We have to have a bail system to help ensure that the criminal behavior will stop. There’s no incentive for the criminal behavior to stop if there are no consequences. We are innocent until proven guilty and everyone will get their day in court. The bail system is like an insurance policy to ensure the community that you will comply with the laws and allow due process of your case. As far as justice reform, I wish we had a policy that’s similar to what they do in England. If you’re found not guilty, then you should be reimbursed reasonable legal fees. For an example, have the reasonable costs capped at a certain amount. If you paid 2,000 for an attorney then you should be reimbursed. If you hired a Johnny Cochran then you’re not going to get no million dollars but the reasonable cap amount. I would think that would be fair and it would give an incentive for the legal system to strictly follow the rules by the books. Also maybe give unemployment benefits for the time spent in confinement based on if they were employed give a small percentage and possibly some job protections from being fired. Only all that if you are truly found not guilty. Instead of writing policies that could actually work, they rather focus on keeping everyone in danger.

Because weed was categorized as something as dangerous as cocaine or crack really made it easy for people to follow the narrative of defund the police, and that many people in jail don't deserve to be in jail rhetorics.
