  1. I know an FBI special agent who got his bachelors degree in criminal justice. This information seems very misleading as an entirety.

  2. Me reading this about to graduate as a cj major 😬 Id have to disagree with you even regarding your position. I know people who have got involved with the fbi through my major. The fbi also deals with criminal investigations and terrorism, not one field in stem can help with that other than computer science

  3. What if you are bad at any STEM field? I am looking to become an SA for the FBI and want to major in CJ because I a, terrible at math, science, engineering, and Tech. Can I major in CJ and learn a language like Farsi or something like that and still get into the FBI?

  4. Hi, I'm a sophomore currently majoring in cj while also doing army rotc. My original plan and reasoning was to become a military officer through rotc and do my time in the army, move up if given the chance, etc. And then later use that military experience coupled with the cj degree to join a defense organization like FBI, Border Patrol, DEA. Well, Im still interested in working in those careers in the future, but im reconsidering the cj degree.

All of my classes have been super easy and not challenging whatsoever, and looking at my projected plan for the next 2.5 years thats not going to change. I'm thinking about switching to finance because that genuinely interests me, it'd challenge me to actually learn, and I'd have plenty of options and career paths with that major.

Coming across this video and seeing you in the comments being adamant that cj is useless is definitely reaffirming my thoughts about switching, though I still would like to hear what you think.

Would finance work in the long run or would accounting be more useful?

Could CJ+military experience work or should I switch right tf now?

Please reply if you have the time but nonetheless thanks for making this video, you might've just saved my ass from some shit.

  5. Im prior military (Army) i have 7 years as a BOP senior officer. I'll be 37 years old and finally graduating with a degree in computer science (with about 7 certs in Data Analysts and Cybersecurity). At my age do i still have a chance even though i been with the DOJ 7 yrs now

  6. He is completely wrong. There are different types of special agents and a criminal justice degree is a viable path. It’s still the most common among SA’s. The FBI Literally list what they are looking for.

  7. Also in my college I had to take math classes for criminal justice such as Algebra 1 and 2, statistics and geometry 1. I learned how to make a crime scene scath what is partnof the forensic science. So criminal justice it's a good major for work at the criminal field.

  8. I disagree with your point, I study criminal justice and in my college I had professors who were former police officers, detectives and procedures, and most of them have graduated in criminal justice. If the FBI don't accept that major why several web sites in any college across the country says, criminal justice is the top 1 major for law enforcement and criminal investigation field?

  9. All those degrees mean nothing without experience. A cj major with 5 year’s experience vs a accounting major with zero won’t go well in an FBI interview.

  10. They don’t value psychology, degrees? I guess it wouldn’t be competitive with that role, but I hope they’d still respect it.

  11. I am a CJ major, but I'm also in the military so I should be good either way as far as trying to apply.

  12. A little too late for me unfortunately. I was mislead by people that didn’t know what they were talking about and professors that sold me a dream that getting a degree in CJ would open doors for me in federal LE…smh

  13. The premier criminal investigative position, which is by its nature inclined to attract those interested in criminal justice, does not want applicants who studied criminal justice. Instead, they want to hire people who have no interest in kicking down doors. Brilliant.

  14. So I’ve decided to switch from CJ to Mechanical Engineering bcus although I want to work in law enforcement and the fbi, I do later down the line want to pursue engineering in the aerospace industry or environmental industry. I’m still debating if this is the right choice because the course load for engineeeing is a lot and will take me a lot longer to finish. I’m 23 years old just got out the military, but I feel like I’m falling behind. Should I just go straight to the police academy or double down and finish my degree first?
