EVERYTHING You Need to Know about the Alec Baldwin Trial –

FOR CONTEXT:
On October 21, 2021, the indie western film “Rust” was being produced on location in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. Actor/producer Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a cross-draw of a prop revolver. When he pulled the hammer back and released it, a live round left the revolver and passed through cinematographer Halyna Hutchins before landing in director Joel Souza. Souza was injured, but later recovered. Hutchins, on the other hand, died that day. Criminal charges were filed against Baldwin as well as against assistant director David Hall and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. Hall took a plea deal, and Gutierrez-Reed was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on March 7, 2024.

  1. The prosecutor was unpleasant in the Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (HGR) case. Her foolish self-absorption and grandstanding, and of course doing the wrong thing, were responsible for this case being dismissed. HGR was negligent but not guilty of manslaughter. The whole set was unsafe at the time of "the death" and all the experienced crew members knew that there were very significant safety and other problems. It offends natural justice that HGR will be the only person to spend time in jail. I don't think her jail sentence serves any clear purpose.

  2. I think Poppell's cross examination needs to be rewatched after having seen the dismissal motion hearing.

  3. The key was tracing the bullets from the manufacturing thru all the middleman to the set. That wasn't done. Poor investigation.

  4. I think no basis for objections, confuses the jury. And in the case of Karen Read, the judges crappy attitude combined with no explanation of objections could portray to the jury that the defense is continually doing something wrong when in fact it is the judge just being picky over a few words, or Lally didnt have the knowledge to know why he was objecting so he could "share" the judges knowledge without anyone being the wiser.

  5. We had SighBars in the KR trial and now we have SnideBars. I found the prosecutor Morrissey quite annoying with her speaking objections which were mostly overruled. I think she was just deliberately doing it to disrupt Spiro's flow. Even the pre-trial motions showed some animosity between them now we are seeing it live in color.

  6. Ok, i don't want any spoilers in the chat please as i only watch these recaps for all my information and i don't follow these trials as they happen day to to day. Thanks in advance. 👍

  7. So I could submit ammo that has no connection to the case and pretend that it was relevant in order to get off scott-free? Based.

  8. Are you serious??! Are you serious, with your claim, opinion, or bias, of the Defense being shady??!
Ohhh please!!!! Do you not know what just happened hours ago???? CASE DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE!!!!!!!
NOW THAT, SCREAMS THAT THE OTHER SIDE – THE PROSECUTORS – WERE BEING VERY SNEAKY, DISHONEST AND HIDING EVIDENCE FROM ALEC'S DEFENSE TEAM!!! AND that bigger lady, with glasses, on the stand, talking about putting that evidence, in a Different evidence bag, than with the Rust evidence bag, that was unreal!! It is so true, how all these dirty cops are being found out, in all these cases all over!!! I was in shock, what you just said about the defense!? Being shady!!? They just found out, and were establishing that the State, was purposely hiding evidence, from the other evidence!!! I just do not see in the slightest, how that since, they are definitively sticking up for their client, and someone sees that as shady?!
No. No way. And the Judge is pretty damn pissed at that Prosecutor too. The other Prosecutor even quit, before they went back to open court. How someone can see all of this, so differently than the Judge here, who has been, very fair and actually a tough Judge, she put Hannah in jail. I mean, thats exactly why producers hire armorers! Their main responsibility is to ensure safety on set when there is a gun!!!! And her not being with, or having that gun locked up, at all times, was irresponsible and its criminal. If you cant trust armorers, then why hire them?? She obviously failed. Big time. The set counted on her, and Dave Halls, who took fault too, with a plea. Alec Baldwin feels so awful over this whole event. He lives with this horrible accident the rest of his life. That is weighing on him. He gets very very emotional over this whole case. Feels terrible. He talks if it on social media. He even cries over Halyna losing her life. But no way was he criminally liable. It was a God awful accident. And thats what the cops said too, when they first interviewed him. Sorry here, this whole case, is so heartbreaking. On all sides. But its completely wrong, of prosecutors and/or the State, too, trying to hide evidence from the defense.

  9. I'm from the future… case dismissed
They make crap firearms btw..I had a 22 cal. Misaligne on me and flew lead out the sides.. I have the scars to prove it

  10. Well, that whole Brady violation thing really ended up being important. Basically all of day 3 was spent in a hearing about the Brady violation, and the judge ended up ruling in favor of the defense by the time this video went up.

  11. I'm watching from Australia, so forgive me if this is a silly question…
Why is there any need for live rounds to be anywhere near a movie set prop?
Why does it even need to be a real gun?
    Are replicas obviously fake-looking?

  12. Alyte- " this trial is going to come down to a who done it" well… spoiler … it was the prosecutor lol

  13. Oh boy is it good to get to see you thank goodness for these Recaps. Youre the best seriously

  14. When I was on jury duty, a typical session went like this:

    Lawyer says something.
    Opposing counsel: "Objection."
Judge: "Jury will leave the courtroom."

It was 30 years ago, so I don't remember all the details, but I don't recall any sidebars in our presence.

  15. BESIDE MYSELF !!! Now … I gotta wonder … if they bungled this up … it likely has some sort of impact on Hanna … I am betting her appeal gets loads of attention now …
