Are you ready for a shocking statistic? 50% to 80% of people in the criminal justice system have a Traumatic Brain Injury. In the general public, that number is less than 5%. So perhaps there’s a good reason many people can’t escape the revolving door of criminal justice. Armed with this knowledge, brain researcher Kim Gorgens set out to find a solution – and she did. Dr. Kim Gorgens is a professor of Psychophysiology, Clinical Neuropsychology, and Psychology of Criminal Behavior at the University of Denver. She manages a portfolio of brain injury-related research–studying the reported history, cognitive function and brain biomarkers of probationers, inmates and college athletes. Her mission is to better understand the short and long-term impacts of injuring our most vital organ. She has a fridge filled with human brains, and a love of zombie movies (coincidence?). Simply put, Kim cares more about your brain than you do.

  1. The criminal activity of women working in the mental health enviroment and the justice system..

Both system benefit from crime in authority that procures criminals and mental health victims….

    Shine on😅😅😅😅😅😅

  2. Psycotronic weaponary used to drive people mad…by authoritys as a safety net for there criminality…

  3. This video is even better than your other one. I've gotten some bad concussions including ER serious ones. And yes I finally succumbed while off meds and ended up in jail. I googled it and with a TBI you're 400% more likely to develop a mental illness with a TBI. I hallucinated that electronics in my mom's house were alive and trying to get me and cut all kinds of power cords to "survive" and she called The cops not knowing what's going on even though I'd been to the ER the prior night for a closed head injury. The cops didn't care and took me to jail basically. I almost did 6 months and 2 grand fine for a first offense. I wish I was white and not Latino! Lol just kidding. I think the system is just broken.

  4. This fix benefits both sides of the law no more victims and no more criminals

Today on the news i saw a little 12 year old boy shot and murdered that could have been prevented with this system. Everyday there is crime on the news, it could all be prevented with this system

  5. Seriously fix the problem so crime doesnt happen in the first place, why punish people, why.. it's a burden to the state to punish people it changes people

God didnt design Adam inside of a cage he designed him in the garden

  6. 🤯 the proper way the end crime is biomedical implants global wireless energy a cellular towers

    Biomedical implants:
    Tazer implant
    Big brother implant
    Magnetic implants in the skull
    Sensor implants in the skull

The tazer implants works in conjunction with sensory implants to read your thoughts so it can taze you before you can commit the crime.

The big brother implant basically is an offline sonar in your body to detect your actions and others actions around you from birth to death. I cannot stress this enough dont skip on this. You've heard of dissmissable video and audio clips right well basically if the person accused says they were forced to do said actions or drugged what you going to do that puts a big hole in the case especially if your smart enough to use it to your advantage framing people is illegal im not saying every case is like this, say you rob a store, based on what this lady is saying and what I'm saying is the criminal couldnt help it. We need to take a new approach to the justice system to prevent all crimes instead of creating a system and way of life. plus it should work in conjunction with the tazer implant to prevent unlawful removal of chips or creation of devices that can be used to cheat the system

Magnetic implants will literally change the way you think literally, your mind is electric and as in physics electricity and magnetism go hand in hand and the bigger magnet wins

Sensory implants should be self explanatory

Global wireless energy tower will be derived from condensed states of metals (concentrated use what we got today to pressurize some raw metal, take that forged metal and make a new pressure machine with it) these towers work in conjunction with cellular towers and redesigned circuits

There really is no other way, just solve the problem, instead of punishing people. In psychology you cant control your cells the fabric you are woven from was designed by the past history of earth and your future is predetermined. There literally is no free will it is not debatable, everythought in your head was predetermined. If you cant control your cells and "gravity" exist then gravity is driving your cells to behave the way they do. In psychology everything psychological is also biological. So tell me how we have free will

If you do this no crime not even one will ever exist in our society ever again especially since sonar will basically also be able to pick up on uk "aliens" (dont want to ruin the surprise) or people who went off grid and removed there chip and came back. So yes in the future there would still be police but there line of work would drastically change to the point where there basically immigration officers picking up on people before the can do anything rash no not police chases they will use something called a teleporter to teleport the chips back into that person

I mean if it was an invasion theres really nothing you can do about that

  7. I know about these stats because a few of my doctors told me. Their advice is to get a criminal defense lawyer. I'm not saying that I will commit any crimes, but it's the brain injury itself that will make a person make the wrong choice.

There is a justice system in this country that does not care about people that have a TBI. DA's, judges, and the police are only interested in looking a person up. One thing that one of my lawyers told me was first off NEVER say anything to a cop about your TBI. They will try to use that against you, and since TBI survivors can never think clearly, he or she might say the wrong thing.

My last rant is very common with TBI survivors, is that most everybody else thinks we are drunk or on drugs. I get that look from people in public and law enforcement. Well, the same thing happens in the emergency room…go figure. Many of us TBI survivors now say, if you don't have a brain injury, then you don't understand, and don't tell me you know what it's like to have one.

  8. This is truly amazing. Psychology and the criminal justice system are so closely interlinked! Meeting people with compassion and help gets far better results than punishment and anger. Thank you Kim!

  9. The 30 days at a time sentence speaks to me quite a bit. I've been suspended from 2 colleges, and I use alcohol for coping. I'm very lucky to have not been arrested for a lot of what I've done or lied about. A FORMER friend doesn't think any of my neurological and mental illness plays a role in my behavioral outburst or constant self hate.
I'm looking forward to seeing you next week at Tedtalksxmilehigh Rest!

  10. Kim,
It was so nice watching you speak and making others understand how TBI's can really mess with a person. I'm looking forward to interviewing you, and seeing all the work you are doing. Thank you and see you on October 1st!

  11. Kim you are a rockstar! Along with your students, Judy, BIAC staff, MINDSOURCE, thank you for this amazing work.

  12. I had a very wise neighbor who lived with epilepsy from a severe auto accident when she was a child in the 40s. She would always say that she didn't believe in the death penalty because she didn't believe a person who could kill someone has a healthy brain. Not to make this a political issue, it's just what she said, this video reminded me of her and her unique life perspective. My comment is not to politicise this video, I am not sharing my personal views.
