I have a feeling a lot less people would be pirating Nintendo games if they allowed people to keep buying them on their own stores. I prefer not to pirate because I still remember Limewire and how it easily killed my computer in high school.
Saying this as someone who really, really wants to play Twilight Princess and Wind Waker again, but doesnt want to have to dig her Wii out of storage when remasters already exist and could be easily ported over to the new system….

Must be a Japanese law thing cuz …In pretty sure that you can make fan content of anything as long as youre not making a profit off of it, because its someone else's IP. Otherwise, a lot of fan fiction writers could be facing legal fees 😂

Ultimately Nintendo does what they want because they know they can. Others would be raked through the coals for doing a tenth of what Nintendo does, but its become such a norm by now its to be expected and is just relegated to being a meme. Nintendo doesnt really respond to backlash like other companies do, and they know people will continue to buy whatever they put out regardless because where else are they going to get the games.
I don't see the problem with Super Andio Brothers. The main characters have full beards. Completely different.
I remember a game on Newgrounds, which let you play oldschool Nintendo games like the first Super Mario, but with the added feature of playing as a character from another IP. So for example, you could be blasting Goombas as Megaman, Samus or Contra guy, but also play as Mario in one of the other games.

I love Nintendo games but Nintendo as a company? No, thanks. Between all of this (some fair enough) and living somewhere where the eshop is inexplicably 50% more expensive, I'm just fed up with them.

Always felt Nintendo was being foolishness when it comes to shutting down fan game stuff… it's basically free advertising…. it deals 0 harm and makes players of a fan game become curious to the real game if they started with the fan for whatever reason…
No instead they make their fans annoyed and drive them to do the exact same but in secret so Nintendo do will have a harder time to judge what is happening which allows those with I'll intent or illegally gaining a profit to gain the upper hand…
The Tetris rights got REALLY mangled for a variety of reasons.
Nintendo is like that kid in the sandbox who doesn't want to share their toys and runs crying to their parents if they see anyone with a toy that's similar to theirs. I really hate Nintendo……

Remember when that guy took it upon himself to remake super metroid nintendo got uppity about it and sue the guy? The ubisoft marketing manager pretty much exposed how the video game industry operates you dont own the game when you buy them youre basically renting its rights to play them. Is why those corporations are pro digital now because it gives them more control of your purchase.
I remember another instance where Nintendo sued another creator many people may not hear of this one but someone remade goldeneye 64 on far cry 3 map/mission creator aka arcade mode and nintendo sue him and he had to take his creation down

I was never big into Blockbuster. I went to a place called "Movie King" instead. I remember renting VHS tapes of Spider-Man. They had one episode of the 80s Spider-Man cartoon, then two from the 60s cartoon on them.
I love that the Game Genie section specifically references Battletoads – as using the Game Genie for extra lives with Battletoads actually made every 3rd level unbeatable because a platform would go missing so even using the Game Genie didn't enable you to beat Battletoads.

Yay as anyone who is familiar with deep dive VR should be aware there is a period of time before it gets released where the large corporations attempt to scrub out any content about their IP’s they don’t agree with so that the AI running the virtual worlds isn’t affected by such data over the corporations ideal (especially in beginning)
Pretty sure Disney has been doing this as well.
Could be really cool soon so make sure to backup this kind of data so we can leapfrog from it with the new coming technology.
